The presence of the Knights Templar was prolific in Portugal. Their headquarters in Tomar is a beautiful combination of Christian and Moorish influence.

When the Templars starting becoming wealthy, the Convent of Christ became more ornate.

The Templars provided space to protect the citizens of Tomar when they were under threat. The space remains to this day.
